Update: Flash Player 11.2 final has been released. I have updated the download links below which now point to the final version of Flash Player 11.2.

Adobe Flash Player is both a sophisticated and striking client runtime, allowing users to receive high quality content on their computers. It provides a rich user experience, such as the easy creation of cubic Bezier curves with the cubicCurveTo.

Adobe Flash Player 11.2 beta has been released publicly and I had a chance to test it for a while. While the beta version is only for testing for the developers, you may download and install it on your computer if you want to play with the new features of Flash Player 11.2. You may also want to look download Flash Player 11.1 Final if you haven’t updated it yet.

Let’s talk about the new features introduced in Flash Player 11.2:

Multithreaded Video Decoding is a new technology which will fix a no. of legacy playback issues. This modern architecture will also enable future performance enhancements
across all platforms.

Flash Player background updates – Flash Player 11.2 offers a new feature which will let you update Flash Player whenever a new build of Flash is available. The system will check for new versions of the software after every 24 hours. The user can opt out of this automatic updates feature. This feature will only be enabled in the Flash Player 11.2 Final.

Mouse lock, relative mouse coordinates, right and middle click events – Infinite scrolling and new mouse events to enable first-person shooter experiences enabling a better gaming experience.

System requirements

Minimum system requirements for Flash Player 11.2 in order to work on Windows are as follows:

Processor: 2.33Ghz or faster

Operating System: Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 7.

All Operating Systems with 32-bit configurations are supported except for Windows 7. Flash Player 11.2 supports Windows 7 32-bit as well as 64-bit edition.

Browser: Internet Explorer 7+, Mozilla Firefox 4+, Google Chrome, Safari 5+ and Opera 11+.

Memory: 128MB of RAM and 128MB of graphics memory. Please note that this is the minimum requirement. The recommended memory is above 1GB.

If you want to revert back to the stable version of Flash Player, you will need to uninstall this beta release. I am giving the download links to Flash Player 11.2 beta uninstallers:

Please note that you should never install the beta products on your production computers. I will be updating this post with the new links as soon as Flash Player 11.2 final is released.

4. Did the installer start installing?

You don’t know where the Flash Player installer has been downloaded.

By default, the files are downloaded and saved to the Downloads folder unless the 'save to' location is changed manually.

  1. After downloading Flash Player, close all browsers.
  2. Locate the Flash Player install file. Unless you have specified otherwise, the file is saved in your Downloads folder.
  3. Double-click the installer file to begin the Flash Player installation.

Choose Window > Downloads or press Option+Command+L. Control-click the downloaded file and choose Show in Finder.

5. Are you unable to resolve the issue?

The rich-media content does not work, and you do not know what the issue is.

Uninstall Flash Player and perform a clean install of Flash Player.

6. Do you have password-related issues?

If you are unable to authenticate successfully, check your user name and password. Use your system credentials, not your Adobe ID.
